Moving Guidelines

Effective February 13, 2022, we have updated our payment policy and will no longer accept personal checks. This change comes in response to a significant number of instances where checks have been returned due to insufficient funds, coupled with the challenges imposed by recent legislation which complicates the process of debt recovery. To ensure a smooth transaction process, all payments for moves must now be made either in cash or by credit card. Please be advised that credit card transactions will incur a processing fee of 3.7%, which reflects the cost charged by the credit card company for utilizing their payment system. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this updated policy.

Guidelines

  1. Please ensure all boxes are securely sealed with tape and appropriately labeled for each respective room. For consolidation purposes, we offer shrink-wrapping services for items such as brooms, mops, rakes, and yard tools. It is imperative that all items are prepared and packed prior to our team's arrival; unprepared items will not be moved, and our personnel will not wait for packing to be completed. Ensure all surfaces, including tables, nightstands, and dressers, are cleared.

  2. Dresser drawers may remain filled; however, we will transport them as is. We advise packing the contents of long dressers and armoires, while nightstands and desks should be emptied due to the risk of items falling through gaps when tilted. Filing cabinets can be left filled. This precaution prevents damage to your belongings during the move.

  3. Our team is equipped to disassemble and reassemble bedroom furniture. This season, we have noticed a trend of clients moving from larger to smaller residences without downsizing their furnishings. In cases where furniture accessibility is compromised, reassembly may not be feasible. This policy is uniformly applied to all moves within New York State.

  4. Wardrobe boxes are available for purchase. Should wardrobe boxes be unavailable, extra-large boxes are an alternative for transporting wardrobes. We recommend removing hanging garments in batches of 5-7 hangers, folding them once, and placing them in the box without overstuffing to avoid wrinkles. For bedding, heavy-duty garbage bags are deemed sufficient. Note that wardrobe boxes are not included in the standard packing service and must be specifically requested. We utilize a large box system for wardrobe packing.

  5. Customers are responsible for ensuring that snow and ice are cleared from stairs and driveways before our truck's arrival. Failure to do so may result in additional charges for overtime. It is crucial that these areas are prepared in advance to facilitate a smooth and timely moving process.

  6. The responsibility for floor protection within the residence rests with the customer. It is advisable to purchase Red Rosin Paper from hardware suppliers such as Lowe's or Home Depot. Found in the hardwood flooring aisle, a large roll is generally priced at approximately $15.00. This paper can be deployed across walking paths within the home using masking tape to offer additional protection for hardwood floors. In scenarios where Rosin Paper is unavailable, we are prepared to employ two or three moving pads at the home's entrance for protection. Our crew members are unable to remove their footwear due to workers' compensation and safety regulations.

  7. Liability for the packing of boxes by the customer is limited; we are only responsible for damage if the box is visibly crushed or torn open. It is imperative to pack fragile items with care and label these boxes as FRAGILE. Bubble wrap is available for purchase through our service at competitive prices. Packing services provided by our team include insurance at a rate of $0.60 per pound.

  8. Complimentary padding and shrink wrapping for large pictures and mirrors (exceeding 2 feet in length) are provided for up to five items. The customer is responsible for packing lamp shades and bulbs due to their delicate nature; many opt to transport lamps personally. Plastic mattress covers are available for purchase at $10.00 each; notification via call or email prior to the move date is necessary, as these covers are not standard equipment on our trucks.

  9. It is the customer's responsibility to conduct a thorough walkthrough of their home before the truck's departure to ensure all items have been loaded. Upon arrival at the new residence, the customer should direct the placement of items as they are being unloaded. A final inspection of the truck after unloading is also required to confirm that no items have been overlooked.

  10. Payment options include cash or credit card only.

  11. Please refrain from negotiating other payment methods!

  12. For the safety of both pets and our personnel, we request that animals be confined or removed from the premises during the move.

  13. Disposal of shrink wrap utilized during the move is the customer's responsibility. To mitigate costs associated with commercial disposal fees at landfills, we ask customers to manage this waste

  14. Moves quoted based on truck size encompass a single trip with unlimited hours and personnel. Should additional trips be required, an extra charge will be incurred.

Piano and gun safe moving is NOT included in this price. All pianos/gun safes have extra charges due to weight and manpower involved. Please read your contract and make sure your piano/gun safe is listed along with the charge on the bottom of the last page.

  15. Payment procedures may vary, with the head employee requesting a deposit before loading and the remaining balance upon completion, particularly for out-of-state moves. This decision rests with our Owner or Head Manager, and applies to all interstate relocations.

  16. For contracts specifying an itemized inventory with a single price, adherence to this inventory is mandatory. Adjustments to the contract price will reflect any significant changes to the inventory, determined through either walk-through estimates or telephonic assessments, with all calls recorded for accuracy.

  17. For contracts specifying an itemized inventory with a single price, adherence to this inventory is mandatory. Adjustments to the contract price will reflect any significant changes to the inventory, determined through either walk-through estimates or telephonic assessments, with all calls recorded for accuracy.

  18. We do not disassemble or reassemble baby cribs of any sort.

  19. The movement of granite is performed at the owner's risk. While every effort is made to protect these items with cardboard, padding, and shrink wrap, we cannot assume liability for any damage due to the material's inherent fragility, affected by temperature and humidity.

  20. Valuables such as purses, loose change, jewelry, laptops, and other personal items are the owner's responsibility. We advise these items be transported personally or packed securely in taped boxes.

  21. Payment for interstate moves requires half of the balance in cash upon loading completion, with the remainder due before unloading at the destination.

  22. Overpacking or overweight boxes may lead to boxes breaking, tearing etc. Use appropriate box sizes for items like books to avoid excess weight and potential damage to items.

  23. The feasibility of moving large items into new spaces will be assessed by our team. Their training in handling complex situations ensures the safety of your belongings and property. Their judgment on whether an item can be moved without damage is final.

  24. During peak seasons, moves are scheduled for morning and afternoon slots. Delays may occur, with the moving team providing approximate arrival times based on their schedule.

  25. Our 26-foot trucks, weighing up to 26,000lbs, may cause damage to driveways or yards, for which we cannot be held responsible. Consent will be sought before driving on any lawns, with awareness of potential damage.

  26.  Cancellations or changes to the move must adhere to a 72-hour notice for local moves and a 168-hour notice for interstate moves to avoid charges based on the booked move price.

  27. Unauthorized offers of additional compensation for services not included in the moving contract may result in fines. Any extra work must be arranged through our office.

  28. Packing illegal substances, plants, or drug paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. Discovery of such items will lead to the cancellation of the move and full charges applied.

Estimating the size of a move is not a precise operation. Despite conducting walk-through estimates and leveraging 10+ years of experience, the actual space utilized can vary from initial quotes. It's important to understand this process is not infallible. Customers have the discretion to halt the moving process if they observe the usage exceeding their spatial budget, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.

The method of loading the truck is designed to optimize space, filling it from top to bottom and side to side to accommodate your belongings efficiently. Should a second trip be necessary, additional charges will be based on the extra space required.

Regarding gratuities, we kindly request that tips not be included in your payment by check to avoid complicating our tax obligations. Furthermore, soliciting additional work from our crew beyond the agreed contract, or suggesting financial incentives in exchange for reduced moving fees, is discouraged.

For any post-move inquiries or requests for additional services, we urge you to contact our office directly. While tipping is a well-appreciated gesture of satisfaction and gratitude towards our employees, it is by no means a requirement for the execution of their duties. Our team is committed to delivering exemplary service, with or without gratuities.

Uncovered Items

For the assurance of both our clients and the integrity of their possessions, it is important to clarify the scope of our liability regarding certain items during the moving process. Below is a delineation of items not covered under our standard moving policy:

Jewelry: We strongly recommend that clients personally transport all jewelry to ensure its safety.

Important Documents: This includes, but is not limited to, marriage licenses, birth certificates, and passports. The personal handling of these documents is advised.

Collectibles: Stamp and coin collections should be moved personally to guarantee their protection.

Artwork: Only items that are properly packed within a box or crated will be covered. Unpackaged pictures and paintings are excluded.

Electronics and Appliances: Liability for internal damage without external evidence of mishandling is waived. If an item is properly handled but malfunctions post-move, responsibility will not be assumed.

Sentimental Items: Items of sentimental value, which inherently possess immeasurable personal worth, are not covered.

Packed Contents: Unless external damage to the packaging is evident, the contents of boxes not packed or unpacked by our team are not covered.

Software Data: Data loss is beyond the scope of our coverage.

Furniture or Appliance Sets: In instances where part of a set is damaged, liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the affected item without obligation to match the set.

Particle Board Furniture: Items constructed from particle board or similar materials are excluded from coverage.

Hazardous Materials: Any damage caused by the leakage of dangerous goods, including cleaning supplies and aerosols, packed by the client, will not be attributed to our services.

Fragile Materials: Glass, granite, or marble tops must be properly boxed or crated for coverage. The same applies to animal mounts and fish tanks.

Rental Trucks and Storage Facilities: Liability does not extend to items loaded into or unloaded from rental trucks or stored within storage facilities.

Living Things: Plants and animals fall outside our coverage parameters.

Photographs and Portraits: Only the material cost of film and processing for these items will be considered for coverage.
Our commitment to the safety and security of your belongings is paramount. However, adherence to these guidelines ensures a clear understanding of our liability limits and aids in the protection of your most valuable and irreplaceable items.
